ChargedAs has just set up one of our new Tap N Go phone charging stations at the Department of Conservation’s (DOC) Pelorus Bridge Campground in NZ’s Marlborough region — a popular place for trampers and campers that features both powered and unpowered sites.
Many trampers and campers are looking to disconnect, but they also want to snap the beautiful scenery at places like the Marlborough region. If there are no phone charging options, suddenly the stress of a dying phone has disrupted their trip that had been tranquil until their phone battery ran low.
Phone charging services help trampers and campers capture memories of their trip without the worry of low-battery anxiety.
It’s not just about taking photos of the stunning scenery; dead phones can have devastating consequences for campers and trampers alike — what if you need to make an emergency call?
Charged phones can save lives
Charged phones really can prove a lifesaver in challenging situations, as an 80-year-old hiker found out when he became lost in December in the Kauaeranga Valley, near Thames, while carrying no emergency supplies other than his phone, according to NZ police.
“He was lucky to have his mobile phone and called his family because as soon as his son raised the alarm, emergency services were able to pinpoint his location,” said Mike Henwood, police area commander of Waikato West.
The incident underscores why phone charging is an essential amenity and not a “nice to have” luxury.
ChargedAs has a range of phone charging options for camping and trampings sites.
Not only do we have Tap N Go and free-to-use phone charging stations, we also have Volty Powerbank stations. Volty is a nationwide power bank sharing service, which means trampers and campers can pick them up and drop them off at any Volty station anywhere in the country — from Northland to Southland and everywhere in between.
Revenue share
We share revenue with clients on Voltys and Tap N Go charging stations like the one we set up at Pelorus Bridge Campground. while keep charging costs low for users as part of our SupportLocalNZ program.
