Kiwis rely on phones to stay connected, but batteries often run flat — and studies show this can impact on sales. Safe and secure phone charging stations are a key solution to this problem. Here are five places where phone charging stations are an essential amenity, and how ChargedAs helps:

1. Events

Whether you’re putting on a conference, trade show, exhibition, sports event or festival, phone charging stations drive foot traffic, dwell time and engagement — and they help prevent early exits. No one needs to go home early if they can charge phones safely and securely.

Peek Exhibition’s Joe Downing notes there are “a number of ways in which the ChargedAs charging stations added value to exhibition stands.” The event services supplier’s client “experienced an increase in customer engagement” during a show that was “largely thanks to adopting the ChargedAs station.”

“The lockable charging station provided a point of difference and attracted additional foot traffic to the stand, which created more conversations,” Downing said.

Some event organisers choose to sell the advertising wrap and video ad space on our charging stations to sponsors to cover hire costs.

2. Retail

Our “lock and shop” phone charging stations are proven to increase footfall, dwell time and spend.

They also build brand trust while enhancing in-store experience by providing customers with a much-needed service that removes the low-battery anxiety shoppers may otherwise experience.

ChargedAs has worked with retailers including Westfield to provide charging stations for special promotions, and we’ve had an ongoing business partnership with Southmall Shopping Centre for nearly three years now.

An independent study conducted by Ink at a store that offers customers free-to-use ChargeBox Prime charging stations that ChargedAs exclusively supplies found 92% of users felt positively/very positively towards the brand providing them and 72% of users would return to the store to use the units again!

3. Hospitals

Our secure phone charging stations help Kiwis stay connected in times of need. They alleviate stress for patients and visitors, enhancing their overall experience.

Fully charged phones help keep children occupied while waiting for appointments. Productivity increases for health workers as staff no longer have to deal with charging requests.

ChargedAs’ partners include the Auckland charity the Well Foundation. We’ve worked with them since June 2019, first to provide a phone charging station North Shore Hospital and later four lockers at Waitakere Hospital in Auckland.

We’ve worked with Wellington’s Hutt Valley District Health Board to provide two charging units at Hutt Hospital since September 2019.

We provide pay-to-use lockers to other health sector partners, too, and this can be a great way for District Health Boards and charities to raise money as we share revenue with clients.

4. Travel hubs

.

Phone charging stations allow passengers to stay connected on-the-go and enable access to e-tickets and online travel information.

They’re a great way to combat low-battery anxiety and pass the time on long journeys.

And they increase footfall and spend in key areas such as duty free, restaurants and retail outlets.

ChargedAs has been working with Trax Bar & Cafe in Wellington Railway station since July 2018 and Jamaica Blue cafe in Manukau Bus station since November 2018 to provide customers with secure phone charging solutions.

5. Leisure and entertainment centres

You can increase customer satisfaction with a safe and secure phone charging service, resulting in positive reviews, return visits and recommendations.

Customer engagement also increases, with visitors able to share their experience via social media without the worry of their phone batteries running flat.

ChargedAs has provided secure phone charging services for kapa haka events at Claudelands Event Centre in Hamilton, Central Energy Trust Arena in Palmerston North and Wellington’s stadium for Te Matatini — and we’ve had an ongoing business partnership with clients including Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre since January 2019.

Clients who choose free-to-use stations benefit from branding and sponsorship opportunities via the lockers’ customised wrap and LCD display panel.

The pay-to-use options are a good choice for councils and community organisations seeking to raise money as we share revenue with clients.
